Meeting of the Committee on Budgets – October 9th

On October 9th, the Committee on Budgets (CoB) recommended another amendment (AM) to the gambling sector. This time it was MP Veselý’s AM, which raises the lottery rate to 30%, with all other games remaining on today’s rates (i.e. live game – 23%, fixed-odds betting – 23%, technical game – 35%).

Which proposals are recommended by AMs and are still in play:

 1) Onderka, Dolejš – It is a previously recommended AM, proposing the rate of 38% for technical game, 30% for live, 23% for all other games

 2) Veselý – the AM recommended a couple day ago, proposing the rate of 35% for technical game, 30% for lotteries, 23% for all other games

 3) The original government proposal – the rate of 25% for fixed-odds betting, 30% for lottery and live game, 35% for technical game

Of course, all the other AMs included in our earlier summary are also in play, but we think one of these three will be approved. Personally, we think that the AM of MO Veselý would be the most acceptable for all our members.

As far as the taxation of players is concerned, the previous recommendation of the CoB remains valid, i.e.to implement it at the level of players’ income tax if the total income for the year exceeds CZK 1 million. We believe that this proposal should also be approved in the third reading.

A proposal to remove Section 59 of the Gambling Act (limitation of guaranteed tournaments) was recommended by the CoB yesterday. We think this proposal will also be approved in the third reading.
