On November 27th, the announced meeting of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Committee on Spatial Development, Public Administration and the Environment on the tax package was held. The rapporteur for the bill in this committee is senator Vystrčil (ODS). 9 out of 11 senators were present today.
At today!s meeting, the new taxation of gambling was discussed rather marginally. The main topic was the increase in the fee for entry into the Land Register and the increase in excise tax on alcohol.
Three amendments (AMs) were tabled. Senator Hamousová’s amendment (ANO) proposing approval of the bill in the version approved by the Chamber of Deputies (CoD) was rejected. Except for the senator herself, everyone was against this bill.
Therefore, the Committee on Spatial Development approved the return of the bill to the CoD with two AMs of:
- Senator Vystrčil (ODS) proposing cancellation of the increase in the fee for the entry in the Land Register
- Senator Valenta (Strana soukromníků ČR) requesting the increase of limit to the exemption from excise tax on alcohol for small domestic producers from 30l to 40l
AM of senator Vystrčil was approved by 8 senators. 1 senator abstained from voting and no senator opposed its approval.
AM of senator Valenta was approved by 6 senators. 3 senators abstained from voting and no senator opposed its approval.
We consider it important that senator Vystrčil stated that he prefers to return the bill to the Chamber of Deputies with one, maximum of two amendments that would have a chance of success in the CoD.
